Germinated brown rice ( GABA ) or “GABA – rice” is created by local community knowledge of north eastern Thailand . Kaw Hang is made by soaking paddy in water for 24 – 48 hrs until paddy germinated. They are then steamed and thoroughly dried before milling.
THE BENEFIT OF :
· The process reduces the breakage of the ice while milling, giving perfect grains include germ ( an important source of nutrition.)
· Enriched nutrient matters like Vitamin A, Vitamin E and other minerals are absorbed into the rice grains while they are soaked.
· Yellow color from the husk will transfuse into the grains while steamed. Therefore, the grains appear golden in color, hence the name “Kaw Hom Thong” as the local calls , which means “ Golden Aromatic Rice”
Germinated Brown Rice has more nutrient matters than regular brown rice such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, Iron , Calcium , Phosphorous, Selenium and Potassium .
MORE IMPORTANTLY ARE:
· GBR has 15 times more of GABA ( Gamma Amino butyric acid ) than regular brown rice. GABA is well Known to help regulate brain balance , aid relaxation and sleep , improve liver functions, decrease blood pressure, prevent diabetic vascular, decrease acylglycerol and cholesterol and prevent Alzheimer disease
· GBR has 3 times higher anti – oxidants such as Antrocyanin, Tocopherol, Tocotorienol , Phytic Acid and especially , Gamma – Oryzanal , more than regular brown rice, which help reduce cholesterol in blood circulation , stimulate the production of insulin in the liver and help with anti – aging
